After serving over 10 years at Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF) as Executive Director, Charlene Giovannetti-King has announced her retirement at the end of January 2022. “Working at the helm of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.” Charlene shared fondly.
Under Charlene’s leadership, the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation has tripled in size, growing alongside this vibrant community. “I am so proud of what we have collectively achieved and know full well none of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of donors, sponsors, our dedicated staff, and amazing volunteers.” Charlene reminisced.
“Charlene has had a hugely positive impact on the Tri-Cities, Anmore and Belcara communities,” shared Board Chair, Tom Morton. “Charlene’s drive and initiative in advocating for the community helped make the Bruce Kehler Cardiac Department, Community Outpatient Department, and the Emergency Department Expansion at Eagle Ridge Hospital possible. Thanks to her leadership and inspiration, the Foundation feels there is nothing too big for us to tackle. We are confident and inspired. Thank you, Charlene, for taking us to the next level.” As Executive Director, Charlene Giovannetti-King led the Foundation through the Eagle Ridge Hospital Emergency Expansion Capital Campaign, fundraising $5.0 million from the community. “Seeing the new Emergency Department Project come to fruition is truly rewarding. With the construction now nearing completion, I feel certain I am leaving the Foundation in a place where the team will achieve new heights,” Charlene shared.
With the completion of the Emergency Department Capital Fundraising Campaign last February and a new grandchild in her family, Charlene is looking forward to retirement, yet noted she will miss everyone involved in the Foundation over the years dearly. In an emotional message to supporters of the Foundation, she acknowledged, “I know it is with great privilege that I am able to retire from such an incredible journey; I thank each and every one of you for it!”
When former Board Chair, Alison Johansen, was asked about Charlene’s legacy she said, “I am very grateful for Charlene’s knowledge and expertise in fundraising. Her stewardship of the volunteer board members, donors and community supporters has been amazing as is her own personal love of our community hospital. Thank you for all you have done over the years for Eagle Ridge Hospital.”
The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation Board of Directors has begun recruitment for a successor with the help McLaughlin & Associates and looks forward to announcing the successful candidate in the coming months.
