Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation’s Evening of Caring Gala Raises over $1.2M
Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation celebrates their most successful Evening of Caring Gala ever, raising a record amount
Port Moody, BC (October 5, 2017) – This past weekend Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF) hosted its 27th annual Evening of Caring Gala, at the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam. Tri-Cities businesses, community leaders, physicians and medical staff attended to honour and fundraise for their local hospital, Eagle Ridge. What started as a patient driven event has grown to be the foundation’s premier fundraiser, resulting in millions of dollars raised over the past 27 years.
This year’s keynote speaker was Sharon Perry, local accountant and daughter of business tycoon and global philanthropist Bruce Kehler who passed away suddenly in April 2017. Following a touching keynote address about her experiences at Eagle Ridge Hospital when her father was treated, Sharon along with her mother Georgina, and sister Dawn, made an inspiring announcement.
“Eagle Ridge Hospital gave us an extra 8.5 years with the greatest man in our world.” said Sharon Perry. He was selfless and gave everything to his family and community. As nurses and doctors you are not thanked enough. My family and I are hoping to demonstrate our thanks and appreciation by honouring my dad’s spirit through a pledge of $1,000,000 to expand the cardiology department at Eagle Ridge Hospital.”
“We are overjoyed by the generosity of Sharon, the Kehler family and partner businesses, Canex Building Supplies Ltd, Standard Building Supplies Ltd and Country Lumber Ltd.” said Charlene Giovannetti-King, ERHF’s Executive Director. “This leadership gift honours Bruce Kehler and exemplifies his life-long commitment to helping the Tri-Cities and many communities around the world.”
This year’s Evening of Caring Gala is the Foundation’s most successful to date, raising over $1.2M.
A special thank-you goes out to all our donors, as well as our key sponsors: Port Moody Firefighters Charitable Society, Northfind Partners, Open Road Auto Group Port Moody, Scotiabank and Hard Rock Casino Vancouver.
