For those at the Cypress, Connolly, and Cottonwood Lodges, the dream of an accessible vehicle means more than just mobility — it’s a key to community connection, inclusion, and belonging. Holiday wishes encompass simple desires for a small holiday gift and the warmth of holiday gatherings. This Giving Tuesday, contributions will not only help fund a wheelchair-accessible van, but also ensure that each resident wakes up on Christmas day to a meaningful gift, something that might be taken for granted but holds immense significance to Lodges residents.
The Cypress, Connolly, and Cottonwood Lodges care for 64 residents who receive a range of healthcare services in an integrated, home-like setting. Developed as part of the Riverview Redevelopment Project through Fraser Health, these lodges cater to individuals with persistent mental illness requiring medium to long-term care.
This year on November 28th, we come together to celebrate Giving Tuesday – a global day of philanthropy to encourage giving and collaboration. The funds raised on Giving Tuesday will help provide a new wheelchair-accessible van for the lodges. This addition will significantly improve the residents’ mobility and independence, ensuring they can access the community with ease. As well, the funds will go towards the hopes and dreams of residents by providing small thoughtfully chosen Christmas gifts, and holiday gatherings for the residents.
Christmas can be a challenging and emotional time for many lodge residents, especially those without a close circle of friends and family. By contributing to the Hopes and Dreams fund, you will help create a sense of belonging and joy for those who may be facing the holiday season alone. Your Giving Tuesday donation offers a pathway to transforming hopes and dreams into reality, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of belonging during a season that can be challenging for residents.
Together, let’s make this holiday season one to remember for all.
