Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation’s board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Judy Zhu as the new executive director of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, effective March 28th, 2022, replacing Charlene Giovannetti-King, who retired February 3, 2022 after serving over 10 years as the former Executive Director of the Foundation.
As a longtime resident of the Tri-Cities, Judy is passionate about empowering supporters of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation and fund the Foundation’s key priorities through philanthropy and advocacy. “I have enjoyed being a part of this extraordinary community and am honoured to be a part of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation,” Judy Zhu remarked. “I am looking forward to continuing to build on this incredible legacy.”
Judy took on the role of Executive Director of the Foundation on after an extensive search led by Tom Morton, Chair of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation. Tom Morton shared, “The Board of Directors for Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation are excited to have Judy Zhu as our new Executive Director, replacing the retiring Charlene Giovannetti-King. Charlene led us through the $5 million capital campaign to expand the Emergency Department, showing what the Foundation and donors from the Tri-Cities, Belcarra and Anmore are capable of achieving. Judy comes to us with amazing fundraising from the Canadian Cancer Society, with the skills and experience to take Eagle Ridge Foundation to the next level. Judy, welcome to our very special team at Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation!”
Judy has over 14 years of experience in the non-profit sector, and has extensive experience in fundraising, non-profit management and public relations in a leadership role. In the capacity of Executive Director, she will be leading the Foundation’s fundraising programs, capital campaigns and operations. Immediately prior to this role, Judy was the Director of Leadership Giving and Asian Giving at the Canadian Cancer Society, where she led the leadership giving team, and worked closely with executive leaders to execute a $30 million capital campaign for the new Center for Cancer Prevention and Support that was completed successfully in November of 2021. She has also worked for Simon Fraser University department of University Advancement. Judy is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Simon Fraser University, and holds a volunteer leadership role at the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
2022 will be a year of transformative growth for the Foundation, having recently finished a $5.0 million capital campaign that contributed to the opening of Phase 1 of the newly renovated Eagle Ridge Hospital Emergency Department. The newly expanded Emergency Department will triple its patient capacity, and to ensure the hospital is able to keep up with the increased patient traffic and growing population of the Tri-Cities, the Foundation is currently fundraising towards a $2.0 million capital campaign to upgrade the medical imaging equipment.
